About Us
Welcome to
Ready5Travel!
Hi! We are Dan and Luanne, husband and wife. We have designed our website to give you an overview of our favorite places that we have traveled to with family and friends over the years. We have created some step by step travel plans along with a printable travel checklist and our personalized list of travel tips to get you through the ins and outs of vacation planning. We give you tips for finding affordable prices on accommodations, air travel or trains and pass on advice about why and where we stay once we pick a destination. To make the most out of any trip consider traveling during festivals or special events. On our recent trip to Seoul, South Korea we planned our trip around the Lantern Festival the week before Buddha's birthday.

One tip we have before going anywhere is to visit websites like YouTube, Expedia Travel or Google for insights about any travel destination. Once on the website just enter your ideal vacation spot into the search bar and you will see a variety of videos about your destination. For example if you are traveling to a foodie place like Seoul, South Korea, checkout the YouTube videos on Seoul street foods. Before going to Seoul we thought about signing up for a food tour but after watching several videos on the variety of Seoul street foods, we jumped right in an enjoyed every minute of our experience. Just point to an item and keep an open mind.

One of our favorite websites is the Smithsonian Channel Aerial Video series. Checkout Aerial Ireland and/or New Zealand. These series give you an overview of the countries' most popular destinations. After watching a video you might want to add a place or two to your travel plans. Smithsonian also has an aerial series that highlights almost every state in the USA. Some of these videos can also be found on YouTube. Another great web series is Expedia travel. Expedia has done a fascinating job highlighting the best of a destination. One of our favorites is Expedia travel Amsterdam, on Youtube. After viewing some videos from around the world you might decide on another destination.

With retirement on the horizon, over the next several years we plan on exploring overseas retirement (EXPAT) communities where we plan to live one to four months out of the year. Our goal is to keep our total expenses (excluding airfare) under $2000 per month. This cost includes everything from golf, medical, food, rent and utilities. Of course we will be looking for warmer climates with plenty of activities.
One magazine we highly recommend for those of you looking to live overseas part or full time is "International Living". This is a monthly publication giving you great advice for everything from renting a place, to health insurance, and local attractions. You would be amazed at how many places around the world you can retire on less than $1800 per month.

And speaking of retirement, we see no need to slow down but to go full speed ahead. Life is about sharing experiences with others, so happy travels and we will see you on the road!
